About

This 2-day workshop invites educators to explore the Compassionate Systems Framework, applying its tools and practices to the design of classroom learning experiences that engage with complexity, diversity, and connection. Participants will work with approaches that help students navigate real-world challenges such as climate change, inequity, and social polarization—fostering not only critical thinking and problem-solving, but also emotional resilience and a sense of purpose.

Through hands-on activities and collaborative exploration, participants will experience the framework not just as a set of concepts, but as a way of being—cultivating presence, compassion, and awareness in how we design and facilitate learning. The workshop emphasizes the importance of growing these capacities in ourselves and our classrooms, knowing that what we nurture in the learning environment not only shapes how students show up in the world today, but also the kind of world they will go on to shape.

We will explore strategies that support deep listening and multiple perspectives, helping to create inclusive and generative learning spaces. By nurturing positive relationships and cultivating the conditions for meaningful dialogue, we strengthen the social field that underpins transformative education.

The workshop culminates in an opportunity to design a tailored learning experience—ready to bring to life with students or colleagues—that integrates systems thinking, compassion, and intentional design for complexity.
